An Orisha is a spirit that reflects one of the manifestations of God in Africa's Yoruba religion. Many Orishas have found their way throughout the Americas via the Atlantic slave trade and are now expressed in practices as varied as Santeria, Candomble, Trinidad Orisha, and Oyotunji.

Olokun is the Orishas of great wealth and the ruler of the ocean. He is revered as the ruler of all bodies of water and has the authority of the other water deities. Known as both male and female personifications depends on the region that he/she is worshipped. Olokun represents patience, endurance, observation, wisdom, vision and royalty. Olokun is one of many orishas known to help women that desire children. People who desire for power or political influence also worship Olokun.
