Each one is assembled, embellished and signed by the artist, herself. Each is a treasure to own. The artist uses a variety of techniques to create her cards. Some are reproductions of her original drawings. To these she has added dimensional accents of color and light. Others are handmade paper collages, some with linework or brush strokes, some with touches of foil or irridescent sparkles. Every card is signed upon completion and no two are exactly alike. Karen Bagnard is an artist of Danish descent, who works from a studio in her home nestled in the foothills of the San Gabriel mountains. Her drawing table faces a North window where she can often be seen working in the wee hours of dawn when the world is most peacefully conducive to creative work. In Ireland there is much evidence of Midsummer celebrations. The main focus of the festival was the communal bonfire, which was jumped by the people to bring health, long life and protection.
