"Before this painting was finished, my friend had a dream of a mountain lion with an eagle feather hanging from his ear and asked if I could add it to the painting as a way to honor Native American spirituality. The eagle flies the highest of all birds and therefore comes close to the Great Spirit. With the eagle feather the Creator is honored in the highest. "

Totem Print by Kathleen Coy-Protector "Halfway through this painting I seemed to be having a difficult time getting the whole thing to come together. I closed my eyes and asked the spirit of the wolf to help me with the painting. Wolf suddenly trotted up to me and I threw my arms around him and stroked the soft fur on his neck. I looked into his eyes and asked him again for his help. He laughed and said, "What do you think I've been doing?" Of course! I had felt it as soon as I painted his eyes that he was with me. I laughed with him and gave him a final hug before he romped away. If you look closely you will see an eagle feather in the fur of his shoulder, symbolizing the interconnection of all life and communication with Spirit. "

Totem Print by Kathleen Coy-Burning Bright "Tigers
have always been very important to me. My very first childhood memories
are about how much I loved animals, especially tigers. When I was a
child I even wished that I hadn’t been born as a person, and I would cry
sometimes because I wasn’t born a tiger. Tiger represents to me power
and mystery, and I lose myself in their eyes. "

Fairy Print by Kathleen Coy-Renewal "I found this fallen log
during one of my springtime hikes. It was crumbling with decay yet
transforming into new life. During this painting I kept thinking about the
cycles of nature and how everything gets its nourishment from the Earth
and then returns to her to nourish others. The little spider web in the
knothole was really there, and I kept it in the painting because I felt
that it helped to symbolize all life being woven together. "
