Losche, a self-taught artist
from Germany, has incorporated several stars from classic films into this
deck. It was great fun going through the deck and seeing who's who. For
example, Sean Connery is undoubtedly the King of Wands, the two of Cups looks
like Bogie and Bacall, and the Queen of Swords is the lovely Ingrid Bergman.
There are many more familiar faces and they are described in more detail in
the book: The Cosmic Tarot: Signposts Along the Path by Laura E.
Clarson.
The Cosmic Tarot follows the
usual naming traditions, with the exception of the court cards... the Pages
are renamed to Princesses and the Knights are Princes. This should cause no
difficulty, and in fact, I found it entirely appropriate. With this deck is
just felt right to use that naming convention.
This deck contains some of
my favorite cards. This is the sweetest Lovers card I have ever seen and the
High Priestess is very innovative. The World is one of the loveliest I've
seen to date. Norbert Losche has captured a unique view of several cards and
makes this deck perfect for someone that employs the comparative method of
tarot reading.
Even though this deck came
to me as a used one, the cards have worn well. They are probably not as shiny
as they once were, but you shouldn't have to worry about replacing them. They
are thin enough to shuffle easily without bending or creasing.
There is very little nudity
in this deck and what there is is extremely tasteful. There are no images I
would consider offensive or disturbing, so you should be able to use this deck
on the most sensitive of customers.
